Dissertation Update

I haven’t posted on here in a while, but it’s not because I’ve been lazy!

I feel really lucky because I get to walk at BYU’s August Graduation ceremonies, even though I won’t have my final dissertation defense until September 14th (and I get my diploma in December). I will submit my full, final dissertation to my committee on August 14th (so there’s a lot of editing going on here!).

The last part of my dissertation discusses and analyzes the test results from the blended teaching competency test that I wrote in cooperation with Charles Graham and Cecil Short. This article, in conjunction with my literature review and modality analysis, are all together part of my dissertation. I feel really lucky that I’ve been able to write my dissertation in an article format so that it’s been in smaller chunks, but at the same time advances current and future research in blended and online learning.

My Learning Accelerator Fellowship is coming to a close, and that has been a great help as I’ve moved forward in data collection. The test will (in some format) be shared on their website as a resource for future teachers and school leaders.

I plan to publish the findings of the analysis of the test in an academic publication outlet, but haven’t quite decided where to send it. Working on that!

Pretty soon, we will be looking ahead to job openings and opportunities in the near future, but for now, I’m “dissertat-ing” 🙂
